TRANSLATIONS GROUP

The Translations Group is a movement of voices speaking and listening in a pluriversal way within a world so dictated by monoculture. It is composed of people working in an integrated manner to make Selvagem association’s materials accessible to different languages and worlds.

The group is dedicated to translating the Selvagem Notebooks and subtitles for audiovisual productions of the cycle of studies. We translate into 9 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Guarani, Italian, German, Dutch, Japanese, and Romanian.

To date, 18 languagens have been present in our cycle of studies, including 9 languages have been present in our cycle of studies, including 9 indigenous languages: Guarani, Maxakali, Hatxa Kuin, Nheengatu, Tukano, Dessano, Ashaninka, Baniwa, and Macuxi. We have 5 bilingual notebooks, which originated from transcriptions of speeches in Indigenous languages and were translated with the participation of translators from each of the 5 Living Schools

Today, 150 people are actively involved in Selvagem’s translation efforts. We currently have over 150 Notebook translations published on our page, along with more than 130 subtitles available on our YouTube channel.

The Selvagem Notebooks, as sources of study, have circulated in various spaces, fostering reflections, creations, and the formation of new partnerships. Made freely available for reading and download, these materials expand access to Selvagem’s narratives.

The Translations Group is also a space for study and exchange in the field of translation and languages. To organize this collective translation experience, translation and revision guides have been developed and are shared on this page.

Coordinated by Alice Alberti Faria, the group includes the collaboration of Marina Matheus, who leads the English translation coordination; Christophe Dorkeld, responsible for French; and Daniela Ruiz, responsible for Spanish.
